Why in24 Exists
Born from three years of research and frontline experience with 40+ distributors and MFIs across Africa—in24 bridges the gap between last-mile distribution and institutional finance.
Our Story
The Opportunity We Discovered
For three years, our founding team led the Micro Asset Finance Lab (formerly PAYGo Lab), working directly with distributors, microfinance institutions, and impact investors across Sub-Saharan Africa. We studied what works, what fails, and why.
The insight that changed everything:
"What if you separated sales from credit? What if distributors focused on what they do best—and let a dedicated financial intermediary handle what MFIs do best?"
That question became in24.
How We're Different
Not a Microfinance Institution
We don't compete with MFIs. We apply MFI credit methodologies to a new market segment—micro assets distributed at last mile.
Not a Distributor
We don't sell products. We partner with distributors who already have the networks, trust, and after-sales capacity.
Not a PAYGo Company
We don't blend sales and credit. We own the credit risk independently, ensuring underwriting isn't influenced by sales targets.
What We Are
A specialized financial intermediary that bridges distribution and institutional finance—creating bankable rural portfolios through smart partnerships and proven credit discipline.
THE in24 FOUNDATION: MISSION-DRIVEN, NOT PROFIT-MAXIMIZED
in24 B.V. is wholly owned by in24 Foundation, a Dutch non-profit established to ensure the company's mission remains protected.
Why This Structure Matters
Long-Term Thinking
No pressure for quick exits or profit maximization at the expense of customers or partners. We optimize for sustainable impact and financial returns over decades, not quarters.
Stakeholder Accountability
The Foundation ensures in24 serves three constituencies equally:
- •Customers: Fair terms, credit graduation, financial inclusion
- •LMD Partners: Sustainable economics, clear SLAs, mutual success
- •Investors: Transparent returns, bankable portfolios, predictable risk
Mission Lock
Even if in24 B.V. scales to hundreds of millions in assets under management, the Foundation structure prevents mission drift. Profits are reinvested or distributed to investors—never extracted by private owners with conflicting incentives.
Board Governance:
in24 Foundation board includes two of our founders (Willem Nolens, Koen Wasmus) plus independent members with deep microfinance and impact investing expertise.
